Villa Thalassa doubles for the Aegean without the airfare. Whitewashed arches, granite columns and cascades of bougainvillea step down to a stone terrace over the water, where an arcaded outdoor kitchen — wood-fired oven included — has become one of our most requested food and travel sets.

Art departments love the texture: hand-laid tile insets, weathered terracotta pots at every scale, olive trees in the courtyards. Directors love that the terrace holds dolly track on a level run of sixty feet.

Sunset falls directly over the water from the main terrace, May through September.
